Halogen spotlight life??

by ttellijs » Thu Aug 16, 2007 1:41 pm

What is the life of a halogen spotlight?
I have had to replace a spotlight 3 times in the last 5 months. Is this normal? We have recently refurbished our home and replaced the wiring. Could something be wrong with the way everything has been rewired??

If the light is on all night every night then three times in five months would be about right. If you are using the light less than that then you've just been unlucky. The life of a halogen bulb can be a bit random. You can dramatically shorten the life of the bulb if you touch the glass with your fingers so never do that. If the light is used a lot consider changing the fitting to a mercury or sodium type. More expensive, but a lot cheaper to run & the bulbs can last years.
