OK, I basically want something small, which will join 4 Live mains cables together; only one is actually Live, but I need them all to be Live, which is why I need to join the 4 cables together. It's for my ceiling light in the the kitchen which I've just replaced. I've just moved in, and noticed that some idiot has pushed all the Red lives cables in the same hole in some kind of dodgey Terminal Block type of object. It works, but not very safe if you know what I mean. It needs to be small enough to fit inside a kitchen light fitting. Its one of those long lights with the tubular bulbs; a strip light is it called?.. Not sure. It flashes a bit before it comes on. Yeh', one of them..



I'm just after a quick fix which will save me from ripping floor boards up or re-plastering ceilings to fit a big junction box just to join 4 cables together. Something the size of a terminal block would be ideal. But it has to be single pole to join the 4 live cables together; if you know what I mean. I've googled for weeks, but had no luck.

Hi John, you can get mains rated bs-en approved push fit term blocks as used in many continental lights, bathroom globe type fittings ect.
they come in everything from 2 to 8 ways with a probe-test hole as well, very good, quick, well insulated & now available from several sources in UK. After buying them from continent for some time I found them in QVS catalogue, also recently in my local Rexel-Senate wholesalers, these being of USA manufacture & are rated for 1.0/2.5mm2 conductors & up to 24A, regards SPARX

I'm not quite sure you understand what it is I am after. So I've made a couple of diagrams to explain.

Here's a normal standard Terminal Block. Though this is NOT the way I need to connect the wires...

The reason I need to connect all four together like that, is because they are currently connected like this...

(Not safe as they aren't even screwed in properly; wrong size screw cow-boy job)

So I was looking for some kind of Single Pole Block, simply to wire it the same way as it is currently connected, only much safer, as shown in the second diagram.
