I am considering fitting a Triton T40i pump between a thermostaric shower bar valve and the shower head, to boost a rather low performance on a gravity fed shower over a bath. For various reasons I cannot fit a 'power' or electric shower, without extensive disruption. Can anyone pass on any comments they may have about how powerful these pumps are? I would say that the water pressure is on the low side of normal, and the hand shower on the bath mixer works adequately. Are they about as powerful as a good power shower, for example?

I think the point is that by installing a pump, a shower becomes a "power" shower. There is nothing different between the valves on either type of shower - it's all to with the supplied water pressure, which is where the pump comes into the equation. Combi's are in effect power showers, as the water is fed at mains pressure. Some showers, the Mira Event for example have the pump built in to the shower valve.

Consideration should be given to three points when adding a pump:-

1. The header tank must be large enough to supply the extra water required.

2. There must be sufficient hot water available.

3. Electrical work must be carried out to the current part P regulations.
