shortening kitchen door handles

by elsie » Fri Nov 23, 2007 4:22 pm

help, ive had kitchen delivered with all 48cm handles, some of my drawers are 300 and 400mm, is there a way of shortening the hollow stainless steel handles without distorting them?
Having no joy getting the right handles delivered.

Hi. Unless you can dismantle the handle and cut a section of one end I doubt you can shorten them successfully to be honest. I think you'll have to fork out for replacements. Try "Woodfit" and "Issac Lord", both of which are online.

I guess you've got nothing to lose by trying to dismantle one. look for any screws that might be holding it together If that fails try twisting in case there is an internal screw (unlikely). Finally try drifting it off by whacking alternate sides with a hammer. Gently at first and then with increasing violence. (Use a block of wood to protect the chrome/steel). You might get lucky!
