Fixing Heavy Radiator To Dry Lined Wall General problems, solutions, information and advice on fixing to walls of all kinds

Hi Everyone.
I need some advice & hope you can help me, I have bought a column radiator that I need to fix to a dry lined wall, The problem is the radiator is 1800 x 600 mm and is 77kgs in weight! I have had a look behind a socket & the plaster board sits about 20mm from breeze block. Do you think that using M8 achor bolts is ok? The radiator has 4 brackets with 2 8mm holes in each.
The fiiting supplied are 60mm screws, Which are not really good enough.
Do you have any other ideas?

Edit: I have just been looking at chemical bolts, Has anyone got experience of these with this sort of wait?

I have 12.5mm plasterboard dot and dabbed onto breezeblock - what i did was drilled through plasterboard into breezeblock to suit long 8mm framefixers ,the sort used to fix window frames in place . any gap between plasterboard and wall i filled with expanding foam before putting frame fixers in . seems to be a good job they have been on for two years now

Hi Dave,
May I ask how much weight you were fixing to the wall?

I am testing one bracket fixed by Fisher FIS V3 resin bolts at the moment. I put them in this afternoon & will hang a 20 kg weight off it tomorrow to see if it takes it.

I think you are being over cautious about the strengths of ordinary fixings. According to Fischer, the sheer strength of their resin V M8 (the smallest I could find is 500kg. With four, that would hang a radiator weighing up to two tonnes.

1400 x 600 not as heavy as yours but i am sure they would be strong enough
