:?: The supply to my bath hot tap has reduced to a very small flow. The hot water tank is at floor level with the cold water tank above it at 8 feet. This has been the layout since the house was built in 1963 and has operated satisfactorily until recently. There was an air lock, but using the method described in DIY Doctor hints this seems to have remedied. Certainly there is good pressure in the hot tap down stairs. Any ideas as to cause and solution

was their a reason why you had a air lock?
if you had work carried out as this had an effect

To Bob Plum. The only work carried out was the replacement of the diaphragm valve in the toilet system

I think this is coincidence.

The tap failing at the same time has the air lock is just bad luck.

The only way to find out if it’s the tap or the water pressure is to remove the tap and put a pressure gauge on the pipe work.

Hot water pressure is always low, normally about ½ bar.

I would turn off the water and strip the tap down and have a good look at it.
