Hissing Push Button Cistern and slow refill

by Alice » Sun Dec 02, 2007 2:21 pm

I have a push button cistern and have noticed that there is now a hissing sound whenever the toilet is flushed - this did not occur before. The other thing is the cistern is not filling up as quick as it used to.

I opened the cistern to see what was making the hissing sound. It is coming from the valve on the left that lets the water in. Instead of a normal flow of water, there is a strong jet of water coming out.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can fix this please.

It’s a dirty filter; probably jam up with lime scale.

Take it off and give it a good clean, it should be ok.

Remember to turn off the water first if you do.
