I am replacing a double toggle switch with a dimmer switch and require some help
On the back of the toggle switch the connections are common, 1 way and 2 way x2
On the back of the dimmer switch the connection are L1, L2 and what looks like an arrow going through a wavy line

I am wanting to know if L1 and L2 are same as 1 way and 2 way and the common is the same as the wavy line with the arrow going through it.

If this is the case then i can connect the wiring exactly as it is in the toggle switch.

The dimmer switch is a two way two gang

So from what i can remember(as at work at the moment) there are two red wires going to each common connection on the old toggle switch (both sides as double switch)

Another short red wire connects one side of the toggle switch to the other

Then there is one wire either side of the toggle switch going in to one way (i think it is at the bottom) either blue or yellow colour

So i need to connect these two red wires same as the toggle switch but to the ~ connector on the Dimmer switch which replaces Common

Then the other two wires in to the L1 which is the same as one way

There are other wire connections but cant remember exactly at the moment

The dimmer switch is a two way two gang, but from what i can remember the double switch just controls two separate lights on and off(one switch for each light)

Hi agn diygaz,
When at home repost with exact colours and from which cables they come and to which sw. each connects as there are several possible ways to connect.
It may be you have one 1 way & one 2 way circuit as you mentioned a 3 core [ie yel&blu]cores.
give as much info as possible & will try to help more

Hi right here goes to the best i can explain

There is one red cable coming from a separate shethed cable going to one of the Common Connectors
Ther is one other red cable coming from a separate sheathed cable going to the other common connector
There is then a short red cable connecting between the two common connectors
There is then another red cable going to the bottom connector labelled 1 way
And another red cable going to the 1 way connector on the other side

Sorry bout the earlier email as got confused there arent any blue or yellow wires connect to this one

Any information on how i wire this to the dimmer switch with the wires i have mentioned would be appreciated

I recently replaced a toggle switch with another one which was simple as it was just a matter of connecting the wires in the same way as it was connected, however it is the fact that the symbols on the back of the dimmer switch are different to the toggle switch

Toggle switch has Common + 1 way + 2 Wat
Dimmer Switch has ~ + L1 + L2

This is what is confusing me

Okay,just put reds into com. as before including link, & use either L1's or L2's it matters not which, be brave! you can't screw it up as only Lives there, no Neutrals. worst thing is it won't work!
just remember to turn circuit off between attempts!

Just one thing when you say put the reds into COM i presume you mean ~ on the dimmer switch as it doesnt say COM
