Height of sockets ??

by stevemcn » Sat Dec 08, 2007 2:37 pm

I read that the suggested height of sockets should be 450 from floor, I was told that 300 would be ok(although I think this is too high). Can anyone tell me what height would keep the inspector happy.
Thanks. Stveve

In addition minimum 150mm above the work surfaces in kitchens .

The 450mm was introduced to assist less abled people, and applies to all new dwellings approved document M

In rewires there are exceptions to this as long as upon completion the building is no worse in terms of the level of compliance with the other Parts of Schedule 1 to the building regs.

otherwise stick to the 450mm and should be ok

It does say in rooms likely to be used by visitors but in real terms one can find you need to show the regs to the inspector and have a right fight to get it passed so I would stick to limits shown in guide to 16th Edition it's not in 16th Edition as its not an electrical regulation.

All best Eric
