hi guys,

Does anyone know if you can get remote keypads for a central heating boiler? I'd like to mount my new boiler on my loft wall as this seems to be the cheapest location from a builders work point of view. The obvious problem now is that easy access to the controls becomes an issue.

What you need is a loft light, a ladder and some boards down in your loft space.

Are you sure it’s the cheapest option?

It should be cheapest option cos all the pipes for the current system converge at this point. It turns out that you can get programable thermostats according to one of my mates. These things can operate the basic settings without the need for regular access to the boiler. Mission accomplished, I think.

Oh tony I wish that was true……..

But its not, it’s only a timer and selector, its no replacement for your boiler controls.

They don’t turn your boiler up or down, they don’t tell you if your boiler is low on water or the fault lights are on.

Boilers fitted in loft spaces, must have:

An access ladder with handrail and handrail around loft hatch
Floor - boarded, a clear route from loft hatch to boiler
Lighting (not a loft light) has to be a fixed light with switch
Gas isolation valve before the gas enters the loft.

This all ensures safe working for engineers repairing or servicing the boiler, and a way of isoalting the gas going into the loft space withoug having to climb ladders.
