Hi all,
I have a large cupboard under my stairs/hallway,
I want to make a washing room.
there are lots of pipes running up the wall, the 15mm are all hot and connected to the heating, there are larger 22mm pipes which are cold.

i need to connect a washing machine to the one of the cold pipes,
does it matter which pipe i choose?
would it be best to say, trace the pipe to the cold bath tap?

Whoa. Just hold on a moment! The most obvious cold 22mm pipe found under a stairs is likely to be gas. So you cannot assume anything.

I would not expect mains cold water suitable for a washing machine to be 22mm copper, so what these pipes are is difficult to say.

You need to trace these pipes in either direction and see what they feed or where they come from. One tip is to turn a cold tap on upstairs, and put your ear to the pipe. Listen for water flow. But be careful, this is not guaranteed to work, it's just a pointer.
