Changing from slabs to gravel driveway

by peterkang » Fri Apr 13, 2007 4:25 pm

I have paving slabs on my driveway at the moment. I want to change to a gravel driveway instead. Can i simply lay cotswold stone gravel on top of the slabs or do I need to remove the slabs and then lay the gravel. And what depth of gravel is needed? and how many tonnes of gravel to cover a drive that can park 3 cars. Any and all helpful advice would be appreciated. many thanks...for your help

If the slabs are solid you can stone on top Peter. 50mm of stone is enough to stop it all sliding off when the cars go on it although you will still need to give it a rake from ttime to time. The quantity required depends on the area and can easily be worked out using the graph on the material quantities project.
