I have an old Victorian home (120 some years old). The basement is dirt and I am planning to pour a concrete floor. Before I do that I want to address the sagging first floor. The house has a huge main beam that appears to be in good condition. There is a little sagging. I understand how to pour footings for steel columns however I am not sure what I need. I would like to install a support colum/s that I can SLOWLY raise the floor joist in some areas but Im not sure what I need to buy or if this is the right way to go about it. Looking for some direction on where to start.
