Water Pressure through new mixer taps

by mjparker » Sun Dec 30, 2007 3:25 pm

I bought new mixer taps online and the waterflow has been greatly reduced since they have been installed. The bath tap has a mixer hand shower which will not work properly as there is not strong enough water pressure coming out of it. Is there a way to get the valves to open further? The taps only seem to open to a certain point and stop. This was never a problem with the old taps!! Please help.

Sorry, but this is a frequent problem with mixer taps on a low pressure system. Many suppliers unfortunately sell taps only suitable for modern high pressure installations and of course there are poor quality cheap foreign taps readily sold.

If the taps are connected using flexible hoses, replacing them with fixed wider bore copper will improve the flow by some degree.
