Which shower... All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

At present I have an electric shower. This is not working well as the mains pressure is reduced to my prpoerty due to demand by other neighbouring houses that use same mains supply. I thought of installing an electric pump to boost the mains inflow but felt the demand by other local uses will still affect my result? I am contemplating using the gravity fed low pressure hot and cold water system in my house (there is readily available hot water in my house). Is it better to have a power shower or and or do I use a mixer shower. From what I understand mixer showers have a separet pump that is installed outside of the shower cubicle. What do you suggest? I understand that Power showers give much greater force(up to 14 lit per min) than a Mixer shower. My 3rd option .... would it be a good idea to add a pump between the existing electric shower and the cold storage tank? Many thanks for all your ideas...

Further to my original message.. Let me summarize..

My electric shower is not working well because of reduced mains pressure.
I have a positive head system... cold tank is in loft, shower beneath it.


Do I
1. Insert a pump such as a Salamander between the cold tank supply and existing electric shower?

2. Replace system with a power shower?

3. Replace system with a mixer shower?

What would you do?

See oour projects section and look at choosing a shower. Pumping water into an electric shower will kill it. They can only heat the water at a certain rate so it does not matter how fast you pump it in it wont flow any faster.

I am now thinking of installing a power shower such as the Gainsborough that uses a 12v supply. Are there any drawbacks to uses this power source rather than 240v?

if your not happy with the mains water set up go for the power shower
from your emails id go for that one

Have decided not to have any form of electric showers......
I have raised my cold storage tank in the loft by 1.74 Metres....
The pressure is heavenly.......
Everyone should do it.....
Save energy, improve your carbon footprint..........
