Query on Flushing Central Heating

by GDS » Fri Jan 04, 2008 10:33 pm

Hi,

Would a Central Heating System need to be power flushed after a radiator was replaced with a Towel Radiator?

Or would I be able to get away with flushing a cleanser through the system and then add an inbitor to the system?

Pressurised Combi Boiler system all on one floor

Many Thanks for you help

Graham

Flushing is really only required if the system is very dirty or filled with sludge so if the water was reasonably clear then just refill with an inhibitor.

Use of compression couplings would not need any cleanser, but yorkshires with use of solder and FLUX, does need cleanser, but not for more than 7 days, then fill & drain at least 3 times, until water runs clear from all rads. Drain from all rads., before recharging with reputable inhibitor, top up with water, bleed, run system, bleed again with it shut-down, then all should be well, although balancing the IRV's on the rads., may be needed, to push air out of the lines.
