I have a cold damp ground floor utility room which joins my warm kitchen.
Next to that I have a freezing cloakroom.
I want to decorate them. I have asked about the floors elsewhere and will no doubt be introducing some sort of membrane. However what solutions might work best to future proof the walls on a budget before re-decoarting?
Currently the utitlity room has condensation issues eminating from a frequently used washing machine and tumble dryer and its warm neighbour.
Amazingly although the paintwork is peeling badly I get few spores and put this down to a draughty cat flap which often jams open.
Most of the spores are confined to the even colder ajoining cloakroom.
Rising damp maybe an issue as there is no evidence of any DPC but I doubt injection treatment alone will crack it as the spores go up to the ceiling in places.
Is heating or fans part of the solution? or will damp proofing alone solve the problems?
