I have a combi boiler heating system,one radiator has a faulty TRV (the pin is free).Can I change the valve without having to drain the system?

No, the system has to be drained.

you can do it with out draining down if you use a freeze kit

Thanks for your replies.

htg engineer -- I mean when the thermostat control head is removed,the pin inside is in place but not sticking, it is free to move up and down.

But I may be wrong in thinking it's the valve that's faulty. The radiator is cold at the bottom,the rest is warm,the return pipe is just cool.
There are five radiators on the system(two upstairs and three downstairs)The problem one is downstairs, all other radiators are OK. The boiler is fitted in the loft.

Any suggestions as to what might be the problem would be a great help and a solution would be even better :-)
