hi all

just wondering how to tackle this one , my mother has just moved into a bungalow with a conservatory , the one wall of the conservatory has artex on it which my mom hate's . Does the artex have to be removed to skim , or can you just board over then skim . or even use a backing coat/browning then skim .

hi , im doing the job now . i PVA the artexed walls . when PVA is tacky to touch, plaster coat with carlite bonding to cover artex. Then skim over the bonding.
if you want to skim on the same day then wait untill the bonding coat starts to change colour and then skim. If you skim the next day then put a coat of PVA over the bonding first before skimming.
