by jasonmartin10 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 9:44 pm

HI just drained all radiators in house as best i could, added new radiator
in upstairs bathroom where previously no radiator. Refilled system bleeding all rads as they filled up , variable pump working but rads cold downstairs and hot upstairs , tried turning all off but 1 downstairs to push flow through this worked but when opened up all rads, downstairs rads went cold again! Variable set on highest setting , any ideas?

could be air still getting in or you ned to balance the rads
i think there is a section on it in the projects section if not come back and some will guide you thru it

you were right bobplum i balanced rads downstairs 1st , and turned all off upstairs then when piping hot, balanced the ones upstairs, thks alot. Next job is to replace feed and expansion tank , lots of sludge etc in old one got myself some sludge remover and fernox mb-1 as water coming out of rads was a bit murky , any tips when flushing out?

Edited because my alternative possibility turned out not to be the case.

Cheers

slight snag! After turned heat off then back on couple of the rads cooler , some have trv , some dont should i balance them properly using thermometer on flow/return etc..? Also 1 rad (old style) crackling when heating turned on , is it air getting in thru valves or limescale build up?
