skirting boards

by vjs1987 » Mon Jan 21, 2008 9:36 pm

my skirting boards are a real mess. they have several layers of paint on them and look rough and rubbish. what is the easiest cheapest and quickest to clean them up and get them looking ok. i wanna strip them but just re wallpapered and couldn't do it without a heat gun.

Alternativley just replace the skirtings not a bad as it sounds, Hire a compound Mitre saw for the day £15 and you will be shocked how easy it is after working out your mitres. Skirting is pretty cheap as well if bought from a timber merchant (avoid chain diy stores for wood at all cost I have found)

See the projects section and look at paint stripping. There is a stripper there without the hideous properties of the chemical strippers. Its a litttle slower than Nitromooors but every bit as effective as does not damage the surface in any way.
