Fire escape with gas supply within stairway

by kbrownie » Wed Jan 23, 2008 12:08 pm

Hi all,
This not DIY but can anybody tell me.
If a fire escape is allowed to have a gas supply running with it or inside it?
Reason I ask new fire escape being built at a company I do a bit of work for and there is a gas supply very close and looks like it may end up being within the escapes stairway. Is this permissable? I got ask that question, so anybody know the regs? I'd say it didn't sound like a safe idea!

You will need to go thru the gas regs. There is a link to these in the page on projects....gas safety. click on the hse link where there is another link to the gas regs. These are a good cure for insomnia. Or ring up corgi. Get answers in writing if there is any risk of personal liability.

The B Regs allow this providing the installation follows the gas safety (pipeline) regulations and gas safety regulations in both domestic and commercial situations.
