I am planning to remove the grass garden and lay Paving tiles could some one help me with this process as i am totaly new to these kind of things and i want to do it myself
1. Is your garden at a slope, or is it somewhat level?
2. What will the paved area be used for i.e pedestrian traffic or vehicle?
3. What thickness of paving tile will you be using?
4. What type of soil have you got i.e. heavy clay etc?
Depends on the thickness but if they are 2 inches thick (50mm) and mixed at 4 to 1 allow 10 days after taking out of the mould before you lay them. Use very fine "pea" shingle for the concrete mix to get enough strength.
Remove grass and any soft soil Tony. See our project on building a driveway or path to get information regarding a sub base for under your patio. Then lay the paving slabs on a bed of sharp sand and cement mixed at 8 to 1. The mix should contain enough water to stay in one lump when you squeeze some with your hand but not drip any water out. This mix gives it some flexibility. The slabs should be laid so the slope is away from the hose and the top of the slabs should at no point be any higher than 150mm below the damp proof course.

The land is straight
area will be used for pedestrians and possibly for vehicle
i have no idea about the thickness of the blocks / tiles
soil is hard not clay.
