Faded wooden floor

by marialouise » Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:05 am

2 years ago I had all of the wooden parquet floors proffessionally sanded and sealed throughout my whole house. However, the sun has really faded some of the floors and there are dark patches where furniture has stood. The floors are not scratched so I really dont want to go through all the upheaval, let alone the cost of having them all done again. Is there anyway I can just clean and apply a fresh coat of wood Seal? If so, which product would be best? They were originally done with a product called Mega, a one component waterborne polyurethane finish. Thanks

Hi MariaLouise
The problem is in the wood and not the lacquer so an extra coat of seal will not change the effect. The bleaching of the wood will only go so far and then stop, the trick is moving the furniture around a little bit and this will allow even bleaching of the floor.
If you re-sand the floor you will only have the same problem in two years!
Sorry I cannot offer a better solution.
