We are having an extension built on the side of our bungalow (brick on outside, block inside). The completion of extension is our own project once the builder has completed the shell.

We are planning to apply plasterboard to internal walls by building a wooden baton structure, however dob and dab appears to be a common method of application. I was wondering the advantages of one over the other and what specialist skills are needed for either.

Hi Moeyowey,
as internal walls made of block, it would be easier to dot'n'dab as the surface is already there to be worked on. if you was going build a timber frame onto these walls three things time consuming, expense and will be a decrease in internal space.
Dot'n'dab is something that needs to be done by someone with experience in that method, it's just not as easy as sticking plasterboards to the walls. You want a nice level even finish with good angles on internal and external joints and the same with window/door reveals.
