plaster ceiling collapse!

by maree » Sun Feb 24, 2008 1:18 am

Two days ago a friends son (who has completed a plastering course) plastered a bedroom ceiling - a room roughly 12' x 10'. The ceiling is artexed and we wanted it covered. Today half the plaster has fallen down. After I get him to remove all the plaster (is that possible?) what do I then do - or pay someone else to do to have the job done properly - how should it be done? :( and how much should it cost?

the artex ceiling is a funny kind of artex.
he should have used a thickish coat of pva 24hrs before, and another diluted coat just before re-skimming it.
lesson to that was a two week plastering course will won't teach you much.
