Shower cable ? for sparks

by Jeffmo » Mon Apr 23, 2007 8:49 pm

as per previous ? Sparks my shower cable is only about 4mm and the run is about 6 metres , ( the shower is a mira sport i think it is rated at 9 or 9.5 kw ) it is clipped all way , i noticed though the cable does get quite hot when shower is in use .At the moment it is on a 40 amp mcb . Can you use your maths instead of mine to work out a fuse solution .My brain hurts with this house , glad i'm moving however i would not want the new owner to be in mortal danger even though its not me thats wired this wreck in the first place .Cheers mate .Regards Jeff

Nothing to work out Jeff@ 9Kw it's going to draw 39.13Amps @ 230 V, 4mm clipped surface is rated @36A.... no wonder it gets hot .
8.2kw max if very short run, get a smaller shower or a bigger cable, no magic fusing solutions I'm afraid,
Best wishes for quick sale Hi, Hi, SPARX
