Papering Just One Wall

by whiteroom » Wed Jan 16, 2008 8:14 pm

I want to hang wallpaper on just one wall.

The paper is coloured, with a slight pattern. The adjoining walls are white matt emulsion.

Am wondering how to be sure of getting a straight edge in the corners, or at least getting the paper to fit neatly into them.

Well you'll be extraordinarily lucky if the corners are straight themselves!

Paper just round the corner then run a sharp blade down the corner just with sufficient pressure to cut the paper.

Push resultant edge into corner using your hanging brush.

Cheers

Thanks for that.

I'll give it a go ... this'll be my 1st time hanging paper, so fingers crossed.

Ok if this is your first time, you've picked a challenging project.

Place grease proof paper on the edge of the wallaper which meets the painted wall.
Cut into the corner, then gently lift up the paper and remove grease proof paper, voila no paste on the painted wall.

I know you can wipe it off but paste soaks right into emulsion paint and will be visible so this is a neat trick to avoid the problem altogether.
