Damp in 1st floor flat - help!

by dinkydads » Mon Feb 25, 2008 10:26 pm

Hi - hope someone can help!

Noticed a weird smell in our back bedroom, and on moving the bookshelves there is a damp patch on the floor by the wall. In fact a small area of the carpet by the skirting board has actually rotted away. This is an internal wall between one bedroom and the bathroom & we live in a 1st floor flat.

We took the bath panel off, and sure enough in the corresponding spot there is a damp patch along the floor / wall. This is at the opposite end of the bath from the pipes / taps etc. so I'm not quite sure how it's got there.

Sealant on bath seems fine although I will check it properly tomorrow - so I'm confused as to what's causing this - and what exactly we need to do about it!!

Any advice much appreciated!
