fixing swivel towel rail to a stud wall

by notrom » Wed Feb 27, 2008 7:42 pm

I want to fix a stainless steel swivel towel rail with four rails (the rails turn on a vertical axle; IKEA Grundtal) to a stud wall. I can't screw into into the wall uprights because it's too far away from the radiator.

Obviously the weight is nothing like, say, a loaded kitchen cabinet but I'm worried about the stress turning the rails back and forth will place on the fixings. (The towel rail has two fixing holes) Will spring metal toggle fixings be the strongest method of fixing or could I use gravity metal toggle fixings which will not need such a large hole drilling? Any other suggestions or am I asking for trouble after a few weeks' use?
