Paint on some of my internal walls is flaking off. I also have little patches where the plaster is coming away (around doorways). Does anybody know what is likely to have caused this and how it can be dealt with?

Cliff - it sounds as though you may have defective plaster which was not mixed properly - alternatively you may have damp creeping in you can get a local damp proofing co to come and check it but do get alterntive quotes as in my experience they can vary wildly i.e. £1800 v £5500 !!
