can you tell me what i can put on my soon to be painted stairs as a safety measure some sort of small mat or tape maybe and where can i get anything suggested? :)

Recently completely stripped and satin varnished a set of stairs and bannister. For a non slip surface all treads were sanded to a slightly "rougher" finish using a heavier grade paper. The difference in finish wasnt visually obvious but provided ample grip for the user.
I certainly wouldnt recommend the use of any tapes or mats.
