cleaning dirty floor boards

by mao1 » Thu Mar 27, 2008 11:49 am

Hi,

My floorboards are dirty in areas, mainly walk ways. I don't want to sand, Can anyone recommend a good cleaner?

The type of cleaning depends upon the product the boards were finished with in the first place. Flooring manufacturers produce good cleaning products which are less likely to damage the floor than the products you can buy from the supermarket.
Oiled and hard wax oil floors need specific cleaners, lacquers need a mild detergent.
If you have worn through the finish into the wood sadly no amount of cleaning will solve the problem, you will have to re-sand the boards and re-seal.
