dat and dab

by willi101 » Tue Apr 01, 2008 8:19 pm

when using the dot and dab method to internal walls is there any pre -primer treatment before the drywall adhesive is applied i.e breeze blocks.
my concern is that the adhesive may not provide a strong bond between wall and board if the adhesive drys out too quickly? my question is purely based on assumption.

Hi willi101,
I always dampen the wall down a bit before applying the dabs, just to stop the moisture in the adhesive to absorb to quickly in to the block.
But remember it's the board you are sticking to the wall. If you use PVA it will create a barrier between adhesive and wall!

a dollop of pva in the water does no harm and will actually be beneficial provided that you apply the adhesive whilst the pva mix is still tacky. this will help seal the dusty surface a little better. don't let the pva dry though, otherwise it will form a barrier as kbrownie says.
