Hi abloke,
hire a testing kit from Jewsons for the day.
Yes, remove the pump, fit a loop in its place, do a visual check first, connections are ALL tight, in-line valves the correct way around, air vents closed, pressure test ~ 1 1/2 times max working pressure or 3bar ~ whicever is the greater, for 1 hour, with no drop (1%), snag the issues.
flush the system, its your time ~ so mayby twice, if ok, fill the system, bleed the rads, check for leaks, drain down the system, reinstall the pump, refil, check for leaks, check the F&E for corrcet level, heat the system, and flush while hot. add corrosion protection.
