Sealing Stone Work

by Exibit » Sat Mar 22, 2008 7:29 am

Hi

First post on the forums, so hight to all

I moved house at the back end of last year and am now wanting to start to put right what the previous owners left off.

The house has a lot of exposed stone and upstairs the stone has been sealed and it has a slight shinny texture, though in the kitched the stone has not been sealed and it seems to create dust, ie one of the walls has exposed stone and there is a shelf halfway down the wall and it gathers dust after a few days. I can tell that it has not been sealed as it does not have the same finnish as the stone up stairs.

Can you tell me what I need to use to create the same finish and also stop the dust,

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I would use danish oil (for sealing worktops), linseed oil or a stone wax. You can get stone wax from a tile warehouse.
