gas pipe route.

hi,
just a quick question to anybody in the know, have been to a friends house today and they had a gas leak and have had all gas pipes renewed and the pipe serving the cooker is surface mounted directly behind the cooker which to me does not seem safe as is prob only about 200-250mm away from the centre of the gas ring at the back of cooker and surley once you put a saucpan on this the flames wont be that far away, is this legal?

Dropping a spipe down the wall as you have described is a common way of getting a gas supply to the cooker.

I have seen many like this and haven't had any problems in relation to the heat from the hob and the copper pipe.

Hope this helps
