my boiler

hi, can anyone tell me why when i leave my thermastat right down while i am away from home does my boiler turn of and needs to be re-set every time i want hot water or heating? thanks in advance

Could be overheating, without more info it's impossible to say.

Boiler make and model ?
what thermostat ? boiler, tank/cylinder or room stat ?

thanks for taking the time to reply. not sure of the make or model, i work away all week and return home at weekend, i will post the details on Monday if thats ok, can not see how it could over heat though, it is a combi with a room stat, will post later thanks again
