New Basin & boxing in pipe work

by Jules_Rich » Mon Apr 28, 2008 12:18 pm

We want to replace the basin in our cloakroom. The waste pipe currently runs all the way to the ground. One option we're looking at is boxing the pipe work in and then building a 'floating shelf' on which the new basin will sit.

How best should we go about making sure the pipes are accessible in event of a leak, simple concealed access?

the simplest answer is to get a basin with a pedestal. pipes and waste will be hidden from view (depending on the particular design) but still accessible. be sure to add service valves when replacing, if not already there.

another option is to get a basin that sits on top of a vanity unit. all hidden, to access just open the cupboard door.
