Filling prior to plastering Advice and information on tiling and fixing tiles to a variety of surfaces

I have just removed the tiles around my bath (a single layer) and in a couple of places chunks have come out of the plasterboard and the skimming has also come off.

The whole wall is due to be tiled and I'm wondering what I should do to prepare it in the areas where it is not level. should I use filler? or is it ok to plaster?

Tom, you need to repair the damaged plaster before covering with tiles, the main reason is that if there are gaps behind the tiling, then they can pop (come loose), as well as not having as much surface area to stick to.
Any plaster will do, though the trade will generally use ready mix joint cement, which is cheap and easy to use. Once you have filled the holes / skimmed the area, give it a key, so that when dry it is ready to go straight away.
