re-using loft insulation

by djim » Tue May 06, 2008 12:21 pm

I am converting my loft and have been advised to use triso super 10 to insulate between the plasterboard and rafters at the roof. This is primarily as headroom is at a premium.

I have already cleared off 16 bin liners of rockwool and 8 of fibre which had been laid between the rafters on the ceiling plasterboard to the floor below.

Is their any benefit of putting the rockwool and fibre back down between the new floor joists and therefore under the floor boards of the new converted loft?

It seems a shame to waste it all.

Specifically: what issues do i need to consider regarding electrical cables, damp etc.
Also: if i do this am i just more likely to insulate the loft from the rest of the house therefore resulting in it actually being cooler?

thanks for any help, it's my 1st time.
