Fixing run of kitchen wall cabinets to plasterboard wall

by Boo » Fri May 02, 2008 9:56 pm

I have a run of kitchen wall cupboards that need to be fixed onto a plasterboard wall, no available studs. I've heard that there are long metal brackets now available that can be fixed onto the wall, and then the cupboards hung from that.

I'm a complete DIY novice - does anyone know if this will work, and where I can get one?

Thanks

you could put in noggins at the height of the cupboards fixings.

There are a variety of normal wall fixings that will suffice for hanging a cupboard off a cavity wall without the trouble of adding extra framework.

Most cupboards are held with two plates that have either two or three screws in each. This is normally sufficient to support the weight of the cupboard and it's contents.

If extra support is desired, run a bead of silicone down each edge of the cupboard as you fit it to the wall. When dry, this acts as an adhesive, and will ensure loads of additional support to the cupboard hangers.
