Hi Everyone,

First timer here!!! Please be gentle !!!!!

I am looking to tile around my bath so I can use my shower.

My main concern is that one wall needing to be tiled is a plasterboard (partician wall) and at the moment it has wallpaper on it with signs of mould setting in at the base where the wall meets the bath.

My plan is to obviously remove the wallpaper but what I need to know is:

- do I need to treat the wall with anything first to insure that once the tiles are in place mould will not develop.

-do i need to use any specialised products i.e certain type of grout for example.

Anyway would really appreciate it if somebody could help me out being a complete novice at this !!!!

Hi dicky, you have a few options.

- if its a partition wall you could replace the plaster board with a few sheets of plaster board then 'tank' the walls over the plasterboard which basically means applying a water proof paint over then. Tanking kits can be bought from most DIY stores. Then apply a water proof tile adhesive and tile grout when you tile. This should be enough.

- or do the same as above but rather than plaster board apply aqua panel/ backerboard/ cement board any of these will do. This will save you having to tank it. You will still need to apply water tile adhesive and grout and seal in any joints and screw heads with silicone.
