We're going to convert our double (integral) garage into a room with a hydrotherapy pool. As it's integral and our living room is above it, I'd like to make sure that we dont have problems down the line due to the increased humidity.
Is there any guidance for how such a room should be specified
eg would a vapour barrier to walls and ceiling help?
should ceiling joists be protected to make them water resistant?
I have submitted a proposal to building regs but they seemed a little vague when I initially spoke with them, I guess it's not a common conversion.
I'm told by the pool manufacturer that humidity should not be a problem if the pool cover is used correctly and an extraction fan is in place.
thanks
