22mm? Bath Tap Connection All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Hi, I think I have been supplied some duff tap connectors but wanted to check first. I have purchased a new bathtap which comes complete with flexible connector hoses. I have done all the plumbing ready but checked the hoses first and the nut end to connect to the plumbing doesnt screw onto any 22mm fitting i have (isolator, elbow, connection etc).

I am not sure if the hoses have a duff thread as both have the same problem or if they are a different size (theres nothing in it and they are supposed to be 22mm). Or am i missing something?

do you have the olive?

you put the nut on the pipe work and then the olive and then tighten onto the bottom of the hose so the nut compresses the olive as you tighten and makes the seal.

bit hard to decipher what you mean.

3/4 inch? Have you got the flexis upside down? 3/4 inch to the tap and 22mm to the pipe.

They're not push-fit are they? :)

Any flexi hoses I have ever seen already have the nuts attached to them, you then put the nut, and olive on the pipe and insert the pipe to the flexi and tighten? The other end fits on the tap. Why are you trying to attach them to a separate fitting?

I have a pair in me box that have a tap connector one end and a washered connection the other to connect directly to the top of the service valve - no olive required.

I suspect that could be what he has but still question if it's the correct way up!! It's not that daft a question really.

You either get the ones with a 22mm nut and ring (compression) which fits directly onto a pipe.

Or a nut that fits any 22mm fitting with a rubber or fibre washer.

Go and buy some from your local DIY store - if they fit no problem, return the faulty ones back to where you bought them - or bin them they're not that expensive to buy.
