Problem with cold water tank filling

by chalkie99 » Tue Jun 03, 2008 8:00 pm

Hello,

Any help appreciated please!

We recently had a problem with an overflowing external waste pipe due to a faulty ballcock in the main tank in the attic.

a new ballcock was fitted by a friendly plumber and all seemend well.

However, we have now noticed that the tank is filling about every 10 minutes as water seems to be constantly draining from the tank even though no appliances are being used in the house.

We have checked the tank and it is not overfilling, there are no dripping taps, etc and no overflows are leaking.

Everything in the attic is dry as is the airing cupboard which houses the immersion heater so we are absolutely at a loss to work out where the water is being lost.

Any ideas please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, are you sure the cistern is filling and it isn't the open vent pipe discharging due to cylinder overheating?

hi,

Is the cistern constanly filling?, if so, being that no tap or overflows show any signs of water you may have a hidden leak!!!!
I hope you find the problem

yours,
