I was wondering if its ok to install an oil fired combi boiler into a bathroom and be boxed off similar to an airing cupboard? The boiler is bosch with a flue. The bathroom will have an expelair. Are there any minimum distance restrictions?

hi,if cupboard locked and boiler connected to fused spur then no electrical probs, but would also post in central heating forum,

Cheers - put a topic in Central heating. Its just the building inspector is saying the boiler has to be 3m from any water based appliance - such as basin or bath

ask him which set of regs requires that, ie bldg regs part or number, cos it's not in IET regs.
Only ref to 3mtrs is for a socket outlet in bathroom in new 17th edition, which are not retrospective & not fully in force yet anyway, & to allow that requires RCD protection. If boiler is fed from FCU [fused spur] in cupboard as I said before, then fully complies.
Building inspectors aren't usually electrically qualified & do pick up on rumour, hearsay/gossip, & half true infomation much of it from leckie members of the 'mushroom-club' (Niceic).
