pouring foundations bit by bit

by mortarboard » Tue Jun 17, 2008 9:25 am

Hi - I'm just about to start putting concrete in my foundation trenches. Does anyone know if there are rules about doing this a bit at a time (over a couple of weeks) or should the whole lot be poured in one session? - Many thanks

Whole thing in one session is best - how will you know they have bonded together. If different mixes, there could be strong and weak spots.

Thanks htg - I thought as much.

I just have some issues with temporarily keeping some drains in use that sit across my trench with some big junctions almost filling the space. I want to break them up and concrete across a few weeks later.
