1st coat of multi finish!

by homesolutions » Tue Jun 24, 2008 8:15 pm

I managed to put my 1st coat of multi finish on but the room was hot and the stuff went of to quick (all excuses i know!).
For the second coat can i just go back tomorrow and pva it and apply?
Also the project section states that you should leave new plaster for 5-6 weeks to dry out and i have never had to do that i usually just wait for it to change colour. Is this ok to do?
Thanks in advance.

You need to soak the wall down for the second coat which is usually applied within minutes of the first. Mix a cupful of pva into a bucket of water and apply to the wall until it stops soaking it up. The amount of time you leave plaster depends on the heat in the room. If you do leave it you will see it continues to "change colour" and get lighter and lighter so when you think its dried out.........It probably hasn't.
