Tight fitting double glazed units

by Helipilot2 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:31 pm

Having built an orangery in seasoned oak the glass company I used mis - measured most of the fames. 4 large panes are having to be remade. However, they did fit 2 units measuring 2230 x 1640mm each. One was a tight fit with hardly any gap around the frame but the other unit was so tight that once they started to fit it they could not get it out again. They went ahead and managed to get it in but only by hitting it VERY hard with a rubber mallet. The window is in, looks fine but will this exteme tight fit cause problems in the future and/or should I ask for it to be removed (smashed) and remade ? Each unit is 6 -20 - 6 toughned pilkington active blue externally, K glass internally.

Considering wood moves is it worth taking the risk as it could crack one day ?
